Abstract

An apparatus, method and computer program product are provided for facilitating blind usage of an electronic device having a touchscreen. The electronic device may sense the location of a user's finger on the touchscreen and generate, at that location, an output associated with an object capable of being selected. Generating the output may include displaying an icon and/or generating a sensation associated with the object. Alternatively, generating an output may include generating a sensation or tactile feedback that guides the user to the location of an icon associated with the object. In addition, or alternatively, each of a plurality of objects may have a different sensation associated therewith. The electronic device may output the sensation of the various objects upon receipt of a tactile input at different locations on the touchscreen, so that the user can move his or her finger around the touchscreen until he can feel the desired object.

In response to detecting the tactile input and determining its location, the electronic device (e.g., processor or similar means operating on the electronic device) may cause an output associated with a first item in the sequence of items to be generated at the determined location. (Block 304). As discussed above, according to one embodiment, causing the output to be generated may involve displaying an icon associated with the item or object. Alternatively, or in addition, causing the output to be generated may involve generating a sensation or haptic/tactile feedback that is associated with the item or object underneath the user's finger. Sensations may include for example, a furry, rubbery, fluffy or slimy feeling, various vibrations including, for example, a vibration that mimics a machine gun, snoring, a heartbeat, or the like. For example, each of the control buttons of a music player may have a different sensation associated therewith. These sensations may include, for example, a jumping up or down feeling for the volume button, a sliding right feeling for the next track button, a sliding left feeling for the previous track button and the like. As one of ordinary skill in the art will recognize, sensations of the kind described herein may be generated using, for example, the techniques disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 6,429,846 assigned to Immersion Corporation ("the Immersion patent").

Mr. Winger also serves on the boards of directors of Cell Genesys, Inc., Cephalon, Inc. and Vertex Pharmaceuticals.

It is expected that Mr. Lavigne will serve on the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors and Mr. Winger will serve on the Compensation Committee of the Board of the Directors. Either one or both of them may also serve on the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee of the Board of Directors.

Mr. Lavigne and Mr. Winger will receive the same cash and equity compensation for their service on the Board of Directors and board committees, as is currently paid to all non-employee members of Accuray’s Board of Directors. A description of the compensation for non–employee directors is in Accuray’s proxy statement for the 2008 annual meeting of stockholders and was unchanged in fiscal 2009.

There are no arrangements or understandings between either Mr. Lavigne or Mr. Winger and Accuray pursuant to which Mr. Lavigne or Mr. Winger were appointed as directors. In addition, Accuray is not aware of any related party transactions involving Accuray and either Mr. Lavigne or Mr. Winger.

Image-guided frameless fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy can be performed with millimetric accuracy using the CyberKnife(R) (Accuray Inc. Currently, extracranial stereotactic radiotherapy is particularly attractive for tumors moving with respiration and is being evaluated in liver, prostate and re-irradiation including head and neck tumors.

I assume (English not my mother language...) that Mr. Cooney is saying that he expects this expansion to add about $20 million in revenues per year, in the "own data center" category, bringing revenues to 140 million (from $120 million, right now - so we get the $80 million "own", $ 60 million partner sites numbers). That's assuming full capacity for the new expansions, of course. Not clear if this vision includes "transferring" customers from partner sites into the own facilities. Doesn't sound so, if we understand correctly. If he hopes to get from 60% to 80% of revenues in the "owned" data centers category, that's a different story, and includes transferring customers/reducing the number of partner sites. Assuming stable revenues ($120 million), 60% is $ 72 million (from $ 60 million) - 80% is $96 million, which is $ 36 million more than today, and probably needs additional capacity made available to be achievable.

Mr.
Cooney says Internap "own" data centers enjoy margins in the 50% range (slightly less than Equinix, the best performing Company in the sector, but similar to other peers). If that's correct, as Internap "is generating roughly $120 million in annual revenue and a 50-50 split [between company-controlled and resold data centers]", and "You can see [that] in the gross margins of our data center business – 25% in Q2.", it looks like partner sites are re-sold at cost, bringing a 0 (zero) margin to the mix. That should also include the wholesale deals like 365 Main and QTS. We just can't believe it, or they'd better dump this side of the business.

Going on with this "logic", adding $20 million in revenues at 50% margin would push margins (assuming $140 million per year for colo, and the 80-60 split) in the 28.6% range, assuming the rest of the mix is unchanged.

Abstract

Systems and methods are disclosed herein for generating haptic feedback, tactile feedback, or force feedback to an electromechanical switch that is toggled by a user. In one specific example among many possible embodiments, a switch feedback system is disclosed. The switch feedback system comprises a user-operated switch, which is operable to toggle between one of an open state and a closed state. The switch feedback system also includes electrical circuitry in electrical communication with the user-operated switch, wherein the electrical circuitry is configured to react to a change of state of the user-operated switch. The system also includes a haptic feedback device in electrical communication with the user-operated switch and in physical communication with the user-operated switch. The haptic feedback device is configured to detect the change of state of the user-operated switch and provide a haptic feedback to the user-operated switch in response to the detected change of state.

The present invention uses proxy points for measuring different routes to a destination address space. Multiple paths to the desired destination address space are identified. Each path begins at a source and terminates at the destination address space. Proxy points are identified for each path and are associated with a point between the source and the destination address space. Measurements of the path performance from each source to the appropriate proxy point are compared to determine an optimum route.
