360TCS Data Center Targets Financial Niche
>>360 Technical Center Solutions (360TCS) has opened a new data center in Lombard, Ill. and is focusing on providing high-density data center space to Chicago-area financial firms.
The growth of low latency trading has boosted business for providers like Equinix (EQIX) and Savvis (SVVS) in the New York and Chicago markets. Wolverine provides technology solutions for high-performance trading, including real-time market data feeds that enable algorithmic trading. The availability of these data feeds is a key step in attracting trading operations and building a financial ecosystem within a data center.
another CDN offering...
"Verizon is now positioned to offer content owners and video distributors a competitive choice in delivering their services to our broadband customers," said Marjorie Hsu, Verizon vice president for network technology. "With our new delivery capability, content owners will be drawn to our networks, and our customers will be the beneficiaries of a broad range of compelling content services."
In response to the burgeoning market for video and multimedia services over broadband, Verizon and Velocix have put commercial and technological arrangements in place to create a new-generation content delivery network (CDN) that benefits the operational models and strategic goals of both parties.
Velocix technology will be deployed in the Verizon backbone network to reinforce Verizon's network design, offering content owners and distributors a new, efficient pathway to Verizon customers. The Velocix platform expands beyond typical CDN features and also includes peer-to-peer (P2P) CDN capabilities to meet the needs of the rapidly evolving P2P-based media-distribution industry.
The new CDN will be used to distribute content that Verizon contracts for directly with content owners like movie studios, TV networks, video rental sites and entertainment services, and also to distribute content from content owners with which Velocix has agreements of its own - all at competitive speeds and costs. As a first step, Verizon has arranged for Velocix to begin delivering Starz Entertainment's Starz Play broadband entertainment service to Verizon broadband customers.

2010 Lexus RX 350 and 450h: Luxury Crossovers Get Mouse-like Haptic Controller: Live From the 2008 L.A. Auto Show
The Lexus RX crossovers are celebrating an anniversary. It's been 10 years since the first generation Lexus crossovers hit the market and brought with them a wave of new carlike utility vehicles.
However, perhaps the biggest development is on the inside. Lexus has finally joined the haptic controller race with a new system called “Remote Touch.” This controller acts similarly to BMW's iDrive and Audi's MMI systems, but instead of a fixed knob that spins to run various vehicle functions, the Lexus system acts more like a more sophisticated computer mouse—moving on multiple planes. It can also be programmed for different levels of feedback. We can't wait to test this new system.
