Euan Thomson, Accuray President & CEO, gave the opening presentation at 7 AM CDT. He shared some impressive statistics.
- Over 13,000 patients worldwide were treated with CyberKnife in FY '09
- 60% of CyberKnife treatments in the US are extra-cranial
- Over 80,000 patients have now been treated worldwide
- 190 systems have been installed worldwide
Prostate treatment time has been reduced to 30 minutes. Robotic IMRT treatment time is now down to 20 minutes or less. The IMRT capability a significant benefit to having a CyberKnife, but not where Accuray is headed. Robotic radiosurgery remains the primary emphasis.
University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is the worldwide leader in CyberKnife patient volume. Georgetown is second.

A CyberKnife center in the Southwest reports treating 34 patients in one recent month. Their monthly average is around 2o patients.
