Rumours were circulating that Telecity, the data centre operator whose technology allows millions of people to watch internet videos of cats on skateboards and other inane curiosities, is engaged in takeover talks with its main US rival.
Shares in Telecity, Europe's largest data centre operator, jumped 7.4 to 403.3p on the back of chatter that it has been in in-depth buy-out talks. Sources suggested that Telecity has been in discussion with US business Equinix for about three months.
