Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), a provider of global data center services, today announced that PIPE International (Australia), a wholly-owned subsidiary of PIPE Networks (ASX: PWK) has selected Equinix as a key interconnect provider for its new PIPE Pacific Cable (PPC-1) undersea cable. Through Equinix Sydney-1 (SY1) International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data center located in its Sydney campus, Equinix will provide PIPE with convenient, secure and cost-effective access to the aggregation of Australia’s leading carriers operating within the center.
In addition to the Sydney IBX data center, PIPE is also utilizing Equinix’s global footprint and operational expertise, with deployments to Equinix centers in Tokyo, Japan and San Jose, CA, USA.
PIPE International’s newly laid PPC-1 undersea cable runs 6,900 km from Guam to its landing point on Sydney. With a capacity of 2.56 terabits per second, the PPC-1 system will provide significant additional capacity to Australia, and also will provide onward connectivity to Asia and the United States.

With a combined floor space of approximately 120,000 square feet (11,145 square meters) and featuring state-of-the-art power, cooling and security systems, they provide the utmost reliability and connectivity for cable operators.
