Otherwise known as tactile feedback, US-based Immersion have made recent breakthroughs with what they call "piezo" - a very thin, precise way to create a range of instant vibrations. The firm's interim CEO, Victor Viegas, told me that the technology brings "high definition haptics" to smartphones, and means the vibrations can be customised to be more like ringtones, and respond to user interaction in record time.Wednesday, February 17, 2010
