Mid-Morning Friday at Scientific Meeting

from the CyberKnife® Marketing Success blog

By The Numbers
Euan Thomson, Accuray President & CEO, gave the opening presentation at 7 AM CDT. He shared some impressive statistics.
  • Over 13,000 patients worldwide were treated with CyberKnife in FY '09
  • 60% of CyberKnife treatments in the US are extra-cranial
  • Over 80,000 patients have now been treated worldwide
  • 190 systems have been installed worldwide
Prostate treatment time has been reduced to 30 minutes. Robotic IMRT treatment time is now down to 20 minutes or less. The IMRT capability a significant benefit to having a CyberKnife, but not where Accuray is headed. Robotic radiosurgery remains the primary emphasis.

University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is the worldwide leader in CyberKnife patient volume. Georgetown is second.

A CyberKnife center in the Southwest reports treating 34 patients in one recent month. Their monthly average is around 2o patients.

LG notebook first to use IMMR haptic trackpad tech

LG X300 gets handled, very impressive

From newnetbookreviews.net

We’ve been hearing alot about LG’s new super slim netbook the X300 lately. It was spotted at the FCC back in December and will finally start shipping this month in certain countries (not the US). Well Engadget got to handle a display model today and they were very impressed to say the least.

x300

One thing that is different is that the trackpad uses no hardware keys, but only a clickable area at the bottom which uses haptic feedback to tell when a button has been clicked. This could be the next big thing in trackpads but I kind of doubt it.
