While she admits that times are tough — and Penrose is no exception, Sabin said the system has a healthy bottom line. But in the future, it will be carefully choosing how to spend its money.
“We are buying a new cyber knife program for the cancer center,” she said. “We decided that that program directly benefited patients — it is state of the art technology. But to do it, we had to put off some building renovations. We decided to focus on health care and patient needs — the rest we’ll make do without.”
