Hundreds of patients with oncological diseases denied treatment

Sofia. The “St. Ivan Rilski” University Multi-profile Hospital for Active Treatment had the ambitious idea of making radiosurgery treatment, known as CyberKnife, available in Bulgaria for patients with oncological diseases, the Duma daily reads. First Investment Bank offered funding for the project, but it would seem the Healthcare Ministry does not consider saving the lives of hundreds of patients diagnosed with cancer a priority. The hospital led negotiations with former Healthcare Minister Bozhidar Nanev and his successor Anna-Maria Borisova, but has still not been granted permission to rent premises and install the new technology.
