Cooper Hospital unveiled CyberKnife, the facility's latest weapon in the fight against cancer, on Wednesday in Mount Laurel.
Called CyberKnife, this $3 million hydraulic robotic arm uses focused beams of radiation to fight cancerous tumors. CyberKnife, protected behind a 20,000-pound lead door at the hospital's Mount Laurel facility, is the latest technology to fight tumors, particularly those which move with the body such as in the lung, liver or prostate, said Dr. Tamara LaCouture, the hospital's acting chief of Radiation Oncology.
