Equinix Has an Edge

from TheStreet.com (subscribtion required):

>>The next evolution of enterprise computing will include cloud computing, and much of this will include outsourcing functions. The "cloud" has to be located somewhere, and Equinix data centers are an ideal location for a wide community of service providers to co-locate. IDC estimates that the cloud-computing market will reach $42 billion by 2012. Equinix's data-center footprint of 41 data centers and over 3.5 million square feet of sellable space is only 78% utilized. With the addition of five data-center builds, Equinix has enough space to meet demand into 2010. Our checks have indicated that Equinix has moved to a direct-selling approach for co-location, as wholesale channel sales are not necessary in a period of rising prices when demand outpaces supply. Also helping are key peering-point locations in New York, Virginia and San Francisco.
